LABORIAL BIOcap

BIOcap provides a temporary single isolator, which can be quickly and easily deployed inside hospital rooms with multi-occupancy bed, isolating individually the patients with such need, without reducing the hospital capacity in terms of space and staff. It can even transform an ordinary space inside any equipment into a safe containement room.

BIOcap provides a comfortable environment for the patient, with more social interaction, maximum visibility and natural light, while maintaining a high level of visibility for supervision from healthcare professionals.

INDIVIDUAL INFECTIONS ISOLATOR

Hospital cross-contamination between patients has become a major concern in healthcare, leading to thousands of deaths and millions of cross infected patients. Healthcare associated infections (HCAI) have also huge consequences on the occupational health of the hospital staff, causing diseases and stressful situations on these professionals.

This has major impact on the productivity of the healthcare and financial systems performance. The constant increase of multidrug resistant organisms (MDROs), turns the prevention of pathogen transmission into a key priority for global public health. Patients infected with harmful and easy spreadable microorganisms shall then be physically isolated in order to mitigate transmission of pathogens to other patients, visitors, or healthcare professionals.

On the other hand, hospitals all over the world are known to be overcrowded, making it very difficult to convert multibed hospital rooms into single-occupancy negative pressure rooms, therefore, alternative solutions are needed to help the mitigation of prevalence of the HCAIs.

INDIVIDUAL BIOSAFETY ISOLATION CHAMBER
♦ INSTANT AND EFFECTIVE ISOLATION OF INFECTED PATIENTS
Complete structure comprising sealed walls, floor and ceiling, integrated into a joinless single unit, manufactured in a tested air-tight and waterproof polymer and kept at negative pressure.

TRANSPARENT WALLS AND CEILING
♦ COMFORTABLE LIGHTING AND EASY SUPERVISION
Patient is individually kept under a controlled environment, with large intake of external light through the transparent walls and ceiling.

AIR QUALITY
♦ QUALITY FOR THE INFECTED PATIENT
Adequate air intake treatment, with temperature control and recommended filtration, for hospital rooms, accordingly to the ASHRAE guidelines, ensuring the pacients full comfort.
♦ PROTECTION: OTHER PATIENTS, PROFESSIONALS AND THE ENVIRONMENT
Complete containment of virus, bacteria and fungi, ensuring the protection of other patients outside the room, healthcare professionals and the environment.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
♦ OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY FOR PROFESSIONALS
Anteroom for personnel disinfection and preparation prior to entering and exiting the isolator.

NEGATIVE PRESSURE CASCADE
♦ ANTEROOM WITH DOUBLE DOOR SCHEME
Anteroom in negative pressure, in cascade, to ensure containment, avoiding direct air contact between the isolator and the hospital room.
♦ EASY FILTER MAINTENANCE
Easy change of filters, with direct and ergonomic access to filters compartiment.
♦ EASY TO CLEAN
Smooth and flat surfaces, built with materials resistant to the most common disinfection agents, for perfect assepcia, after use.

MONITORING AND CONTROL
♦ CONTROL PANEL
Control panel with real time digital display of negative relative pressure inside the isolator.
♦ CORRECT FUNCTIONING INDICATOR
Green light indicating correct operating mode (relative pressure ≤ -10Pa).
♦ WARNING INDICATOR
Yellow light indicating warning (relative pressure between -3Pa and -10Pa).
♦ VISUAL AND ACOUSTIC ALARM FOR DANGER
Red alarm and acoustic alarm for danger (relative pressure> -3Pa).
♦ FILTER STATUS REPLACEMENT WARNING
Continuous monitoring of filter status with visual alarm to indicate substitution need.
♦ QUICK DEPLOYMENT
Easy assembly aluminium frame which allows quick deployment of the BioCap, without tools.

LOGISTICS
♦ PORTABILITY
Suitable to instantly turn one room’s bed into an isolated chamber. Quickly procedure to change to another room in the hospital, according to the demands.
♦ EASY STORAGE
Quick disassembly and storage in small volumes, which allows for easy transport and storage.

STANDARDS AND GOOD PRACTICES
♦ IN COMPLIANCE TO BIOHAZARD INFECTION CONTROL STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES
Construction in compliance to Biohazard Safety Level 3 according to World Health Organization laboratory biosafety manual. According to EN 1822-1 (HEPA and ULPA classification, performance testing and marking), EN 12296, EN 12297, EN 12298 (Guidance on testing procedures for cleanability, sterizability and leaktightness of biotechnology equipment) and EN 12741 (Guidance for biotechnology hospital operations). Design and built in compliance to ASHRAE 170, for design and retroffiting of hospital air isolation rooms. Design and built in accordance with American, Australian and European guidelines for infections control.
